When to start pumping??

DS is 2 1/2 weeks old and I'm a SAHM so I don't need a huge supply of frozen BM. ?When should I start pumping? ?I can't remember when I did with DD...Right now he eats kind of irregularly, sometimes every 2 hours, sometimes I can't get him to wake until 3-4 and sometimes he sleeps at night 4-5 hours and I'm totally in pain. ?I don't want to pump to increase my supply necissarily (sp?). ?Should I wait until 6-8 weeks?

    I wanted to build a stash and the nurses at the hospital told me to try to wait until 4-6 weeks as to not mess with my supply too much.  So...if you don't need a stash, I'd say that 6-8 weeks sounds good.

    I started right away (6 days pp) because of engorgement.  As far as I know, it never caused any problems with my supply.  I didn't get much at first, but it did help increase my supply over time.  I always pumped after a feeding.

    I'm also SAHM and I started pumping at 5 weeks. It sucked at first but now I just pump for 10 min or so in the morning since I am still so full even after DD nurses. Then I will pump again while DH gives her a bottle in the evening. I'm slowing building a stash but don't anticipate I will need too much. GL
