17 mo and now won't sleep thru night

We know it isn't infection, I think he is either afraid of the dark or scared to be alone. He usually ends up in our bed. What do we do???? Crying it out doesnt work. He cries for 1 hr, lays down for 10 min then is back up again crying. : (

    Does he have a lovey? if not, can you introduce one? It works for my dd 1/2 of the time...other times we just have to go in there and sooth her until she falls back asleep. Also maybe try a night light?

    My ds has gone through stages of this.  I thought he was scared of the dark too, or teething pain.  Last week he woke up every night at 0300 and would not go back to sleep with crying it out.  I would end up bringing him in our room where he slept fine.  Now this week he is back to sleeping through the night.  I think they just go through stages, and then they grow out of them.  My ds also got a tooth a week ago, it might have something to do with it.  But, I really don't like having him sleep with me, but if it is once in a while i don't mind.  I keep thinking it is going to start bad habits, and it never does.  Hang in there.  Hope this helps
