How old were you when you had your first child?

It seems like (in my area) people are having children later and later. I'm 25, pregnant, and people say, "You're so young!". I do look young...probably 22-23 yrs old. I got married when I was 21 so it's not like we had children right away. I'm going to be a SAHM and I am very excited. My mom was a SAHM and I'm forever grateful. How old were you when you had your first child?

I was 28. I was kind of in the "middle" of my friends. A lot of my friends had kids, but most of my close friends didn't, and are just now starting to have them, and DS is two.

It definitely does seem there is a trend to get married later and have children later with all the celebrities having babies well into their 40's and all the medical advances in the fields of IUI and IVF, huh?

I got married at 26, DH was 31.

We had Emily exactly 1 year later, on our first anniversary... I was 27 and DH was 32.

26, I got the oh you're so young comments too. I look very young. Don't worry about what others say and don't justify yourself to them either. Enjoy your time with your baby!

I was 26, which even though I don't think is young, we were the first out of all our friends by more than a year. Now I'm pg with #2 and, of course, we're charting new territories again!

Besides, I'd rather have 'em young so I can enjoy my life later....when we can supposedly retire!

I was 26. I didn't get the comments but am the first of my friends to have a baby. I was also the first to get married at 22. I think people just do things later these days. I was the same age as my mom was on both accounts.

I was very young the first time- only 20. I then became the master of meticulous birth control and didn't have another baby until I was 31. Our final baby was born when I was 34.

I was 31, DH was 32. We were married at 28 and 29. Most of my friends from college waited until age 30-32 to have their first. Before that we were in college/working/traveling/being selfish/having fun. On the flip side though, is that you can do all that when your kids are grown, b/c you'll still be young and energetic!

I had just turned 26 when I had ds.

Where I live we have a HIGH teen pregnancy rate so compared to a lot of people here, I was old! I was almost the last of my friends to have a baby. Most of their kids are in elementary school already. I got a lot of "why, haven't you had a baby yet?" But, for me it was important to be married first and have a stable life. I felt no need to rush into having a baby.

I was 29 when I had my first and 31(month shy of 32) when I had my second. But I didn't get married until I was 27.

36. We weren't in any kind of rush to breed. Of course, we weren't in any kind of rush to get married either; we lived together for 6 years before even getting engaged. We're currently working on getting pg again, but if it doesn't happen by next April, we're done. I draw the line at popping out a kid when I'm 40. That's my "scary age".

I was 25 when DS was born. I felt like people thought I was "too young"...but we were ready and do not regret having DS at 25. Having him has only brought more joy to my life!

Its funny...I was a young mom and I would never judge a girl who gets pregnant.

Its when they get married that I give the side eye, and wonder what the hell they are thinking.

I was 19 when I had my 1st and then had 2 more by age 22. I just had my 4th at 27. People that don't know me are always shocked when they hear I have 4 kids by age 27.

21 and unlike some of the other ladies I didn't get any rude comments. DH and I had been together since I was 16 so I guess everyone expected it. The odd thing is I started the "baby boom" in our sircle of friends! Almost all of them will have a baby with in 6 months of Colby.
