Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How do you decide if baby's gas is Mylicon-worthy?

Ok, kiddo screams herself awake when she needs to pass gass, and has AMAZING gas when she poops.  SO I bought some Mylicon drops, thinking it would help her to be more comfortable, but my mom seems to think her gas ins't that major.

So how do you know if you should use them or not?

  • PC!  Congrats. I haven't seen you in forever.  I heard about your birth story.  I'm sorry it was so scary.    Chloe is beautiful!  So glad you are ok! :)
  • DS is gassy so I started using Mylicon - personally I dont see a difference at all.  Maybe ask your doctor.  My doc suggested trying it b/c DS was so fussy b/c of his gas.
  • If my kid is screaming over gas, I offer the drops for sure. But I think the mycilon is more effective offered before the bottle or BM, so I would do that.

  • If baby is crying/screaming, then I definitely offer Mylicon. Needed it more when she was young - haven't needed it in a while.

  • if my kid was screaming and there was a way to relieve some of the pain, without any harm what so ever, why not give her the drops.  who cares if the gas is major or not.

My pedi said to use malox for DS.  we haven't tried it yet but the mylicon is not working.
