She started sttn at 10 months. Previously she was waking once to nurse and I didn't know whether she was hungry or it was just habit. So I gradually started taking one minute from her middle of the night nursing session. When we got down to two minutes I knew she wasn't hungry, it was just a habit. When she only nursed for 1 minute or less I would just rock her for a couple minutes and put her back in bed awake. She would go to sleep on her own. Now she is sleeping 8pm-7am!!!

By the time I went back to work, DD just had one early morning feeding to drop (4:00 a.m.). At the same time, her sleep patterns were changing, so we went to two big bottles during the work day (8 oz every 4 hours). I nurse first thing in the a.m., right after work and before bed.
DD weaned at 10 months and only then did she start STTN.
Previously, she was nursing 2 times at night and only drinking 12 oz. during the day at her in-home daycare.
Now, she does 16 oz. during the day and 2 6 oz. bottles before/after sleep.
So, she takes a total of 28 oz. and has 3 meals and a snack a day.

I didn't increase his bottles at DC, but I did find that his first morning feeding (BF) increased when he started STTN. So, I estimated that he used to eat about 5 oz for the first morning feeding, but now eats about 9 or 10oz.
I haven't changed her bottles during the day. She gets 3 4.5 oz bottles at daycare and I nurse when she wakes up, after work, and before bed. She wouldn't take more per bottle anyway and I have a hard time keeping up with the bottles to begin with. She is definitely more hungry in the mornings now, but nurses more efficiently and I know she gets more milk in the first am feeding than she used to. Until a few weeks ago, we were co-sleeping and she would nurse almost all night long - since we moved her to her crib, she goes to bed at 8 and I have to wake her for daycare - she dropped the feedings herself, so I know her night nursing was out of habit, not hunger.
