anyone doing non-traditional nursery colors?

I'm not sure I want to use pink, but I'm finding it hard to find things in colors other than pink and blue. I really like dark red, but someone suggested using cooler colors rather than warm because it will be more calming. I'm definitely in favor of the nursery being calming!

What colors is everyone doing for their girl nursery?

I'm not having a girl, but I was just thinking bedding that is khaki, white and mint green would be really pretty.. in some paisley pattern or something.

Our walls are a color called gobi desert... basically a nice beigy tan color... neutral. Decor and bedding we are using Lilac and Leaf ( a green color)

I'm technically being forced into a bold red room that I'll be sharing with my baby girl. I love the room and the color so I'm not really complaining. It has gold curtains and black trim. Personally, I don't think it will have any difference on sleeping cycles or anything but I'm not exactly a color/design or baby expert. Maybe better to ask Red? I think she's the unofficial design go-to girl and expert.. Also, there was a bit of talk of this earlier today. I'll attempt to post the link below.

I am doing the Moderno by Bebechic bedding and painting the walls a sort of West Elm apple green with black furniture.

We are doing a really light aqua on the walls with red, yellow, and aqua accessories and bedding. ?It is gender neutral too!

We haven't actually liked most of the pink or even lavender or pastel-y designs anyway. The one we're considering is chocolate brown, white, and mint green. It's a bit more modern than cutesy and girly. Then we'd probably paint a feature wall in the green.

I say go with what you like. And if they're neutral colors, then at least you could use it for future babies too!

We're painting 2 walls a very light cream color, one wall khaki, and the other wall stripes of the two. Our furniture is dark cherry...I just wanted something that didn't scream A BABY LIVES HERE! Classic, and beautiful.

I was thinking about going with a lime/grassy green for walls

then using orange and navy for a boy

or pink and white for a girl

but it only works in theory as I have no clue what that green could possibly look like on walls. I would have to test before anything happens

We're having a girl, and we'll be painting the walls a light grayish-brown color. The bedding/decor I'm doing is red and chocolate brown, with light gray-brown accents. I'm also not a big fan of pink.

Christin3580 - where are you getting most of your baby items? I thought about doing lavender and green, but I'm having a hard time finding a lot of things in those colors.

I'm doing lavender, green and chocolate brown. Our nursery will be more modern than babyish. I found some solid lavender sheets, solid lavender bumper and a solid lime green crib skirt at Babies R Us. I also found a blanket that has lime green and lavender blocks on it. We're painting lavender, chocoloate brown and lime green blocks on one wall. I found my inspirational pictures at the rate-my-space website.

Our walls are Sherwin Williams "swanky gray" which has a purple undertone but is definitely not PURPLE, furniture is white and the bedding is black, white and lime green.

We are going with a dusty slate blue and champagne . . . NO PINK! Her bedding is "Grace" by Bananafish . . . but we have made a few changes. My mom made champagne colored rough silk curtains and the bed skirt to match. We are painting the walls a light greyish blue color and putting up crown moulding. The babies room has an attached bathroom so we are painting that room a light tan with this super awesome damask stencil border in a burnished gold color and a slate blue shower curtain.

I'm trying to play down the yellow tones in her bedding with the champagne and tans . . . and play up the blues with the grey-blue walls and some cool accessories.

We are also putting a daybed in that room for DH and I to lay on when needed . . . I'm hunting around for the perfect collection of pillows and bedding for that whole arrangement as well.

I love my babies room-to-be!

I actually did have a dark red room for dd. ?I refused to use the traditional girl colors and red was the only other color I could pull out of the rug we had. ?It worked out well, at night it was super dark in there. ?Even during the day it was nice and dark for naps, and the room faces south east with tons of light. ?I also don't think it ever "excited" her.

I was thinking green. Similar to the color of the boards or maybe even a little lighter. I *HATE* the color pink. In fact on my baby reg it says NOTHING FROM CHINA or PINK.
