So, I'm hesitant to even post this since its only been a few nights, but I think DS may be a crib sleeper, finally! We've been cosleeping, and though I enjoy the snuggle time with my little man, we've been trying to get him to sleep in his crib for awhile now. He'd nap in the pack n play at the sitter's or even at home, but if we tried to put him in his crib overnight, he'd scream bloody murder to the point of gagging and making himself sick. We didn't really want to do CIO, but something needs to change, he was back to getting up every 1-2 hours again and he needed to learn how to sleep by himself.
Go figure, on Tuesday night, we ordered No Cry Sleep. It hasn't arrived yet, how ironic that it's going to come AFTER DS has decided he's OK with the crib. So, Tuesday night DH tried putting him to bed, he cried for 5 minutes (some of it was screaming) and DH and I agreed 10 minutes was the max we'd let him scream. Before the 10 minutes was up he put his head down and went to sleep, and slept 9 hours! Last night, DH gave him a bottle before bed, he fell asleep on his shoulder afterwards, and then DH put him in his crib, no crying, slept for 10 hours.
I was a bit nervous about tonight since DH is working. I thought maybe the success was because DH was putting him to bed, because normally when he sees me he?desperately wants me to hold him and gets really worked up if I'm not or don't pick up him fast enough. I gave him a bottle, nursed him, put him in the crib, no crying, and now he's fast asleep.
So, I wouldn't say we've completed the transition to crib as its only been a few successful nights, but we are definitely making progress. So, to all you girls that have a DC that hates the crib and/or refuses to STTN, there is hope. My DS refused to sleep in his crib and was nowhere close to STTN, and then all of the sudden, he started doing both. My little man is growing up!?
