Cubby and now JDD and a girl I know irl ... all delivering 20 min or less after they got to the hospital. I'm glad I'm not pregnant or I'd be spending the night there my entire last month.
LOL I didn't get to read Cubby's story yet. Did she wait at home for a while? I don't plan to do that. We don't have a car and aren't that close to the hospital, I plan to go at the first sign of the real thing and if they say not yet I'm just hanging out there in their face until I can get some action. I don't believe in labouring at home, let alone birth at home. And I won't be getting taxis back and forth, just want to go there and not have to worry about moving.
I hope I don't have a drive thru. I am GBS positive and I want to be able to get enough of the antibiotics in me before delivering. I also live 40 mins from the hospital and that is with no traffic. EEK!
I remember one of my Oct. '05 mommy friends delivered at home. She was getting ready to leave and felt the "ring of fire." There was more to the story but that's the highlight. I still shudder at the thought. I'm not woman enough to not have meds.
Don't you say that girl! We women have always been practical and our ancestors on the East African Plain did not survive by just doing what their parrents did "because its natural". I swear if I could get in a time machine and go back and ask Miss Kenya of 10,000 years ago if she would like a painless joyful labour with an epidural she would kiss me.
I said the same thing. My OB was going to send me home because I was only at 2cm. I progressed to 10 so fast the triage nurse freaked out. They did not even have a room for me yet. They had to hold the baby back to wait for the doctor. 2 pushes and it was done.
Oh and Brew, there was no time for an epi. I was screaming for it! But, it went so fast, I'd probably do it again that way. I would maybe tell the doctors to delay it on purpose? Recovery was so much easier. I could have gone home the next morning, but DS's pedi wasn't open until Monday.
When it was all over the nurses were telling me how impressed they were. I told them I am a whimp since I passed out twice getting my last tattoo!

I thought, "Wow glad I'm not pregnant so my vagina doesn't catch it!". lol.
Standing O to the nesties who got there just in time and the dr's who were there to catch them!
I certainly didn't catch any of that!

JDD had her son? I have to look back to find the post! I am so thrilled for her. I was just chatting with her last night!
