Tri-Vi-Sol or other vitamins

What, if any, vitamins are you giving to your LO? Is this a newer suggestions from pedi's? DS has food allergies that we're still determining (dairy and soy but maybe others). I'm on an elimination diet. I re-introduced his Tri-Vi- Sol yesterday and he has had teenie, tiny, specs of blood in his diapers today. I can't think of anything else this coud be caused by. I'm thinking of stopping the Tri-Vi-Sol and trying Just D liquid vitamin. Anyone else use Just D? Thoughts?

Did you save the diaper to show your pedi? I'd want to be sure that it definitely was blood. As for the vitamin, my DS is on poly vi sol because my pedi said he's seen some children with rickets in the past few years.

I use poly-vi-sol and have since DD was about 1 month old. Maybe try the ones w/out iron...sometimes that can cause problems. DD also had blood in her diapers and she ended up having a little tear and a bit of a yeast infection. Maybe that is what the blood is from??

The tri and poly vi sols have a bunch of vitamins you don't need (if you are BF). The Vitamin D is the problem (esp. if you live far north and can't get any sun 1/2 the year).

Anyway, we do Carlson Vitamin D drop. I do one drop on me before BF and it's done. (Or can put it in LO food.) Available at Whole Foods or online.

I never gave DD vitamins. Both LLL and my pedi said BF babies don't need them at all for the first 9mo, and after that they only need them if they're anemic. So she's never had any.
