High-Risk Pregnancy

GD Question

I am normally on this board because of a shortened cervix, which has stayed constant since 22 weeks, thank goodness, but now I may have a new problem.

If you failed the 1 hour but went on to pass the 3 hour - do you remember what your 1 hour numbers were? I failed with a 175 and asked my doctor if I had a chance at passing the 3 hour and she said my number was too high and she wasn't optimistic.  I am looking for a little hope!

Re: GD Question

  • There are some women who fail the 1 hour and pass the 3 hour. If it's not the case with you don't worry the diet is manageable. I was diagonosed with GD after my 1 hour only, I don't remember the number but I do remember it was above 150.

I also have the risk of preterm labor due to my first pregnancy, I had a preemie due to PROM. They  are checking my cervix and so far so good. I wish you the best of luck!

  • Thanks girls. I will do whatever it takes to manage the diet if I am diagnosed.  It's just hard, I am already on modified rest for my cervix and they have been watching my blood pressure...and now I might have GD...It's all so scary. Sometimes I feel like he'd be safer outside of me rather than in.

Oh well, I take the test in the morning.  Last time I took the test the day after Easter...I ate A LOT that day....I am clinging to hope that it screwed up my numbers. If not, I guess I am giving up my breads and pastas!

  • I failed the 1 hour with a 148, and then went on to fail the three hour.
  • I failed the 1 hour test with a 146 and then went on to pfail 2 of the 4 draws for the 3 hour test, which is enought for the GD diagnosis. But, from what I hear, most people with  my number go on to easily pass the 3 hour. I was just an anomoly, I guess.
  • I failed the 1 hour w/ a score of 163, then failed 2 out of 4 of the tests for the 3 hour.  I know it's scary, but GD really isn't that bad.  It's more annoying than anything else.  IF you have it, you will get into the swing of things very quickly and you'll realize that it's not the end of the world.  Smile

     Best of luck tomorrow!

  • I failed my 1 hour with a 173 and then went on to fail the 3 hour also.

Hopefully you will pass but if not, it really isn't that bad!  And the girls on this board are really helpfull!

  • I failed the 1 hour and my number was only 149. I also failed the 3 hour.
  • I failed the 1 hr with a level of 161 and also failed the 3 hour.  I was not worried about passing the 3 hour at all - I figured the 1 hr was af fluke.  NOT that this means anything, but I wasn't worried because I run 3+ miles a day and have always been a really healthy eater.  So I was very surprised when I found out I failed the 3 hr as well.  But - it's really not that bad.  I don't have to take insulin so that helps, but the diet isn't too bad and you'll feel good about how healthy you are eating.  No sweets - which is hard -but it's just temporary!  Good luck.
