for those that had a wedding photographer.. how long did it take?? We got married in June 2008 and still don't have our album yet.. they said it should be done in Jan/Feb... and we just went yesterday to approve our album design... and now it's 10 more weeks for it to be printed/bound.. should be here in time for our 1 year :-) other than timing, I do think our photographer has been awesome! they show clips of our video to potential clients and they asked us if we wanted to go to wedding shows to talk to potential bride/grooms-to-be!
Re: NER: How long did it take to get your wedding album back
11 months
MamaPhan|boy (n): a noise with dirt on it
wow.. 2 years?!
my brother got married 3 weeks after us and had their pics back months ago! so my whole fam was on my back.. I had no idea it would take this long but lemme tell ya, it looks AWESOME!!!!! we have 2 parent albums.. our monster album.. all our .jpgs and 4 mini books that they decided to throw in there cos we spent SO much money.. lol they also did our photo thank you cards... our engagement photo shoot.. and our video!
We celebrated our 2nd anniversary 3 weeks ago .. and we don't have our album yet.
But it's our fault ... we haven't even proofed it yet. Our photog has been awesome, though, and since we're not breathing down their necks, I don't think they're all that worried.
I hope to get everything approved and off to the printer/binder sometime this summer.
Our wedding was in July 2006. We didn't finish choosing the photos we wanted in our album until November 2006. We approved the final layout in March-ish and had our album by May. So about 6 months turn around time from the time we even decided what pics we wanted. I think this varies depending on the type of album you get as well. Ours is a ZookBinder with the pics attached to the page, not printed on the page or slipped in.
Along these lines, we got married in Sept '07, and we'll have our book in about 2-4 weeks. Not the fault of the photographer, though, he had our proof album to us in one week! Unfortunately, the albums were VERY expensive and not included in what we paid him to actually shoot the wedding. So, we had to wait until we could afford to buy the album. We finally sat down with him in October '08 to pick out the pics we wanted, and he the album ready to preview in February. We didn't get there until 2 weeks ago today to approve it, and it should be ready in the next 2-4 weeks.
It depends on when you picked the pictures for the wedding album. He's running behind, but as long as he's keeping you in the loop and not avoiding you, I'd cut him some slack (unless for some reason you picked the pictures for your album in July and are just getting to proof your album).
As far as you guys going to wedding shows- is he giving you anything for that?
we picked our pictures in august I believe...
regarding the wedding shows.. he said we would be "heavily compensated".. so not sure what that meant but I left it at that for now... if/when he tells us about a show, I'm sure we will talk in more details!
I do know that our album price was not included in our package (we ended up going with a MUCH bigger one) but the tough part is they required all the money up front.. so that was a lot to fork over... I guess we are just excited to see it complete!!
Yea, that's kind of a long time. Even after hurricane katrina, we were getting album proof's to brides within a few months of their order- but the photographer I worked for paid me strictly to do flush albums.
That's great that he'll compensate you- you may be able to get free family pics for like ever!! If you like the "compensation", then I'd go there and rave rave rave about him. It does sound like you're getting a lot of stuff- but that is longer than I'd expect.
I wouldn't really care though- but maybe that's because I worked for our wedding photographer and can get everything at cost, and I STILL haven't ordered a big wedding album (I just have a small one).
We got all photos online (& they emailed all pics in a zip) within 2-3 wks (would have been a wk, but photographer was sick & we told her not to rush)... then we got the actual album & a CD w/ all the pics within 6 wks tops (full of 500+ color & B&W pics) plus they mailed us two 8x10 pics (one for DH's mom of the mother/son dance, one for my dad of the father/daughter dance)... & one 11x17 pic for us (all 3 pics were our choice). I'm heart broken that they're moving their business to Florida, because I wanted to use them for maternity pics

Totally random, but if anyone is looking for a photographer (in FL) check out S&J Creative Photography... they're husband & wife & work together, very reasonably priced, includes copy rights so that you can have pics printed anywhere (don't have to go threw them to get more prints) & if I remember correctly they studied photography in college (in case I'm wrong though, their bio's are on their website).
