I am trying to get back all of our offsite storage for our office to go through, throw out, and send stuff back to clear up office space. They are saying they cannot bring stuff back to us, they are saying that we have to go there. Then they go on to say that the only way they'll bring anything back is if we send new storage items back to them before they'll send us back more old stuff.
I think they just don't want to because of the quantity of our offsite storage and they are just being lazy d*cks. Because this just does not sound right to me.
Re: Who has experience with Iron Mountain offsite storage?
I can't find the actual contract - that's the first thing I looked for. We're storing closed project information - project files, billing files, contract files, and drawings.
What I dont' get is that coworker has talked to them on the phone many times since Monday and late last week - he asked about producing a list of what they have to compare it to what we have to make sure we're on the same page since admin staff here in the past have not kept well track of things. There has been an abundance of things discussed between IM and coworker. Now that it's coming down to bringing stuff back, they say coworker doens't have the proper authorization to do so and that the boss needs to write a letter requesting what we want, on letterhead, and then they'll contact us to schedule a time for him to come out there to do what he needs to do.
Yeah, that sounds like their standard procedure. FWIW those are pretty standard procedures for companies that store records -- alot of it has to do with records security. I'm sort of surprised they don't do more stuff electronically though, instead of requesting letters on letterhead and stuff.
