Babies: 0 - 3 Months

crossed-eyed ... be concerned or normal?

Dash is 7w old ... and I know for a ONE month old, it's totally normal to have the occasionall crossed eyes ... but this kid is OFTEN crossed eyed.

Normal? Or Something To Be Worried About? (our next pedi visit is next week. I'm making a list)

Re: crossed-eyed ... be concerned or normal?

  • My pedi said normal.  They don't do that anymore.  He got more coordinated over time.

  • I was told that you should be concerned after 6 months! but until then it is totally normal!
  • i think there is a section in WTE the first year about it being normal for first several months.

  • Even though I have no basis, I am going to say its normal. Because my DD is 7 weeks and is often cross eyed as well and I refuse to think of her as abnormal.

    this is my favorite answer

(even though everyone else said the same thing, lol!)

  • I asked this same question on here when DD was that age. Her eyes were crossed all of the time. Pedi said she should outgrow it, and she has. So, dont worry, give it time!
  • usually crossed-eyes are hereditary. my father had them, and i had them. i had surgery when i was 6 months old--when it was conclusive that i had inherited them. so if you have them in your family, it could be the case, but if not, then it's probably just normal. x
