Switching Mini-Pill to Regular Pill?

I am going to stop BFing soon and know I need to make the switch.  Do you have to finish your mini-pill pack first?  I'm assuming yes.  Any experience with this?  What were your side effects if any?  TIA

Re: Switching Mini-Pill to Regular Pill?

  • You are taking active mini pills?continuously, so it shouldn't matter if you switch mid-pack (except maybe insurance not covering a second pack of BCP in the same month). ?My OB said to just call the office when I was ready and they would call in the new?prescription?for me (the one I was on before ttc). ?

It will reduce your milk supply, so make sure you are really ready to stop BFing. ?On the plus side, it should help with any engorgement issues, etc. while you are weaning.

I don't know is if there would be any waiting period where you should use a backup method. ?I would think as long as you don't miss any days between switching pills that you would be fine, but you may want to ask just to be sure.?
