So I really wanted to name DD MacKenzie. It is my brother's middle name but I've always wanted it for a girl's name. DH was totally against it (he likes the name but didn't want my mom thinking she named our DD) but I did tell everyone that's what I wanted & my brother was totally cool with it. He was even a little upset that we didn't use it. I was going to try to talk DH into MacKenzie or Kenzie next time! Well, at my future SIL's bridal shower yesterday she said that she wanted to name her DD MacKenzie.
Now, I would totally give it up for them since it is my brother's middle name, IF she was pregnant & IF my brother really wanted to use it. Thoughts? I just wondered what the rules were on this? It totally caught me off guard when she said this b/c she knows we were considering it when I was pregnant.
Re: Baby name: Who has "rights" to it?
To me, I think the rules are: whoever has the baby first gets to pick the name first honestly! ?It's silly to fight about it when you have no idea when you both will become pregnant, if you will have girls, if you will still like the name in a few years, etc. etc...Also, the name Mackenzie is pretty popular nowadays, I know many little girls named this!
If the name you picked was something like Rogue (lol, don't know if you saw the post yesterday in 1st tri) then I'd say you have some bitchin' to do...otherwise, I think just leave it for now....?
I agree. Just thought it was a little weird.
Eh. I'm in the camp that thinks, "Hey, dude... If either of you are blessed enough to have a healthy baby girl and you're both still hung up on naming your baby Kenzie or McKenzie or whatever, then cross that bridge when you come to it."
Seriously, this does not have to be an issue at all unless you decide to make it one.
