DS loves mum mums, puffs and crackers. He is not into banana slices, peas or beans. It's like when I give him a real piece of fruit or veggie, he doesn't want to have to chew it! He likes the baby food instead.
It is still really early. Every baby is different and some do not get into finger foods till a few months later. Keep trying a little at a time, but he might just be telling you that he is not ready. One day )about 9 mos or so) DS just strated to refuse baby food and that was it for him. At first tho, he did not like mushy things (or chunky purees), only cheerios and crunshier things like that
Yup. I wouldn't sweat it at all. He's still so young.
Bananas, beans, etc. are pretty slippery so might be a little much for a baby who's just mastering their pincer grip.
And just, fwiw, our pedi said peas were a no-no for self-feeding at first since, much like grapes, the skins can be a choking hazard. (I don't mean that mean or anything, just thought I'd mention it.)
Have you tried those mesh teether things? You can load them up with any kind of finger food he's okayed for (banana, peas, beans, frozen fruits if he's teething) and it's a bit easier for him to grip since they've got rubber handles.
Yup, my DS is the same and a month older than yours. I think its the texture. We have better luck with things like cheese, hard boiled egg yolk, bread, and pancakes.

My DD would only eat rice puffs, O's and crackers at first, in addition to purees. Now, she really doesn't like the puffs or O's and will only eat cheese crackers (loves the Kashi brand) and diced fruit and veggies and refuses purees.
Ditto on the peas. Choking hazard. I'd stick with purees in that aspect.
