So when she was about two months old we (SIL and H) started giving her a bottle once a day to try and get her used to when I was going back to work. We tried many different types and she finally took Nuk bottles. She had been taking them without a fuss for about 2 weeks. Well...I went back to work on Wednesday and she stopped taking the bottles. I even tried this morning and she still won't take it. I don't know what to do. Do I stop giving her boob? I really don't want to do that. How long do I let her cry today until I give her boob? I only work 3 days/week btw. Is it just going to be a month again until she accepts this??
Re: Advice needed-she won't take a bottle
What we found too is that when he was hungry enough, he would take the bottle. I just hated for him to get to that desperate point though! I think what also helped (because DH said he wouldn't even latch also) is that DS had just accepted a paci, but only by me inserting a finger to elicit a suck, then slipping the paci in. It was just after that, that he started latching back on to a bottle.
I think that's the prob sometimes is they forget how to suck on a nipple vs. the real nipple. We just have to help re-teach them. So frustrating though!
That helps a lot! Thank you. She doens't take a paci anymore and she used to. I will work on that.
I seriously couldn't believe how easily he started taking the paci after I did the finger/switch thing! Sometiems it would take 2-4 tries before he kept it in but after a day he accepted it no problem...and he was a different baby after that! So much more relaxed!
