2nd Trimester

Suggestions for paint color??? *Red* or anyone else???

I've had a hard time finding neutral bedding that I like... there's not much out there. We're not finding out the gender, but even if we were I would not do a boy/girl theme.

This is the bedding I found below..... We will be doing a cherry furniture (haven't picked out yet). The floors in the nursery are a beautiful dark hardwood. We are also getting the overstuffed chocolate chenille chair/rocker from BRU. And a huge incredible sheepskin rug I bought while I was in New Zealand last year to visit my sister (my favorite trip EVER!!!) for  the floor in front of the crib  : )

I was thinking of doing wide (8 inches or so) vertical stripes of white and then latte for the walls....

Thoughts? Suggestions??? A different color for the walls? Something simple for the window??? I was thinking this way after babe is born we can add lamp, pictures, wall letters in colors to add to it. I'm going for a very elegant nursery, not into the cutesie stuff.

TIA! I'm definitely no expert and you ladies always have the best ideas for nursery!

  • I think white/latte stripes would be too bold and stripey. I love the stripe idea, but I would do it two soft shades of a light mocha or tan color.

I think that waiting until baby is born is a great idea.  I like the latte and cream stripes on the walls and then once you know the sex, you can add and perhaps get inspired.  Not sue if I am loving red.  But, I do like the idea of painting one wall a dark chocolate brown.  Use that wall as a canvas for art once baby is born.  Here is a link to some different real life ideas.

  • We have been using a light, sagey-green color.  It goes with all the tans and browns you have.  Then you can always mix in lavender if it is a girl, or "boy colors" if it is a boy (yellow, blue).

lol!  A little too early for me- I didn't catch that!

  • I'm still first tri...but planning on nursery colors.  I am going to find out the sex but am using neutrals just in case the u/s is wrong.  I am using a sage-like color as a base with some shades of brown.  If it is a boy I will add some blues and if its a girl I will add some pinks. I also don't want to go too cutesie so I'm trying to avoid the usual themes.

DH is very outdoorsy so we are going to use an outdoors theme that is gender neutral too... Hope this helps...

  • That bedding is adorable.  I love it!

This.  I was going to suggest a sage green.  I think that color is very soothing and should be a nice contrast to your bedding.

  • I love the idea of light latte and cream stripes on the wall. I think it would looks amazing. You literally want the difference between the two colours to be about two shades off on a colour chip. I think it will be dramatic but still subtle and calming.

I would accent with white Ribba picture frames and b/w pictures around the room. You could also frame sand dollars and sea shells in white shadow box. I think it would be the most soothing and ?calming room ever - very beachy!! Use silver/polished nickel as your metal of choice.?

Ahhhh, Love it! Never thought about B/W picture frames. Might have to stick a b/w wedding pic in there somewhere : )

Thanks lady! Knew I could count on you!

  • I LOVE the bedding...I am not real good with paint suggestions tho. I am more of a neutral bedding/bright or deep accent wall kind of person. Stripes sound fun!
  • Could you share where you found that bedding?  I absolutely love it!!!
