Girl names I love but won't use

So I figure that a lot of you are asking for Girl names and since we've already got ours decided (we're adopting) that I would share the names I won't use because our last name ends in "i" and rhyming names drive me batty.

 For your consideration:

Natalie

Chloe

Zoe/Zooey (even though that's technically the male spelling: Zooey of Franny and Zooey was the brother)

Lily

Lucy

Tinsley

  • Thanks for sharing. Our last name is Polish & has three syllables & several vowels....which eliminates similar first names Sad

  • Ours is Polish, too! 4 syllables, though.

I envy people with last names like Duncan and Westfield and Meyer.

    ...sigh...

I actually like ethnic first names w/ ethnic last names. I think something like Isabella Rosselini, or  Petra Nemkova sounds a lot better than something like Beth Rosselini or Jane Nemkova. LOL

I say embrace it! I know a lot of ppl feel the way you do though. My friend has a very Polish last name and named her DD Molly. I would have gone w/ something longer...We have a long Swedish last name so I actually like names that can stand up to it.

Not good? Or Not your style? Don't judge.

It's a seriously Blue Blood name.

  • I love Olivia but my last name begins with "O" so I will not name her something that gives her the initials OO.

I agree with you about the rhyming name thing.  That's just bad!

I like ethnic names.  It's nice to honor your ancenstry.  It's just funny sometimes when people are 1/4 this and 1/4 or they look Irish but have a very Italian name.  You kind of look at them and go- huh?   Like Francesca O'Reilly.  Great person I know but she looks really German with an Italian first name and an Irish last name.
