DH and I have a landline but until today have never had a phone plugged into it because we have always used cell phones. We got a bundle deal so it was cheaper to have internet a phone instead of just internet. My dad got rid of his landline so and gave me his old phone so I plugged it in. My mom usually calls during the day so I called to give her the number so I don't waste my minutes. It took over 20 minutes (no kidding) to explain to her that if she wants to call before 7 on a weekday to try the home phone first. It so reminded me of that scene in Holy Grail where there is that wedding and the dad is trying to explain to the guards not to let his son leave the room. The conversation went something like this:
Me: Phill and I have a landline now and I wanted to give you the number. If you need to get a hold of me on a weekday before 7 call this number first.
Mom: I should call this number if I want to call before 7am?
Me: 7pm
Mom: I should only call before 7pm?
Me: You can call anytime but if it's before 7pm on a weekday call the home phone first.
Mom: Why?
Me: I don't want to pay for cell minutes when I can use the landline.
Mom: So it will cost me money if I call your cell phone?
Me: No, you will pay the same no matter what number you call
Mom: Oh, ok, so I should call your cell first if it's a weekday before 7 pm?
This went on like this for over 20 minutes until I finally told her just to call whatever number she wanted.
