Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Update to 3:28am and my household is up

The wreckage of our car was dropped off this afternoon.  It was rather sobering looking at where I was sitting and seeing how they had to cut off the roof of the car to get me out.  DH is now convinced that if it was him that was in the car he isn't sure how long it would take for him to recover.  He was just taken aback, he was there on the scene but they wouldn't let him get too close and sent him to the hospital to meet me there.  He told me from what he could make out beyond the ambulance, the two or three fire trucks and the ambulance and squad cars the car didn't look that terrible.  He was still pretty sure it wasn't that horrific when he saw the back of the car at the impound lot.  It wasn't until he could see the front of the vehicle that left him shaken. My mom went out to look at the car and was just crying her eyes out.  I looked at it and just started apologizing over and over and crying...I just didn't know how bad it was.  All I knew was I wrecked my husbands car, a car he wanted for years, and had no idea how I was ever gong to make it up to him.  He keeps telling me I already have made it up to him by being able to walk out of the hospital a few hours after being admitted to the emergency room.

I am starting to ache more, DS is still trying to nurse though I can't for 5.5 hrs due the contrast given to me for my CT.  I lost it around 6am after a whopping two hours of sleep and called my mom to come over and help us.  She showed up and got DS to go back to sleep and that allowed DH and I to get a few more hours of sleep.  DH just keeps holding me and telling me he loves me every chance we get.

I can't seem to sleep, too much adreneline pumping through my veins.  Thanks for letting me share.  I still can't believe I made the TV news and the newspaper... as an example how not to drive in the rain.  It was a freak accident and DH says I did everything right.

  • Wow, that brought tears to my eyes.  Again, I'm so glad you are ok and that really sounds like a miracle that you were able to walk out of the hospital last night.  I'm glad your mom was able to come help you this morning!

  • I'm so glad you're ok!
  • Thank you ladies!  DH has been tweeting left and right to share with those that follow him what has been going on, and I just to tell you ladies what was going on.  Looks like I may have to stay home for the rest of the week, which is a major bummer because I have lots to do.  DS is finally napping again, I am hoping that the last five hours of no nursing goes by quickly.  My mom has been awesome, taking care of DS when he has melt downs due to the lack of nursing.  DH has been a sweetie, isn't it amazing how men just have to do something after something like that?  He has been real busy, figured out how to get the car in the carport and has even made new friends with a neighbor.
  • P.S. I totally know how it feels to total DH's prized car.. On the day of our high school graduation I crashed my H's brand new car that he had won in a raffle three months earlier.  I always tell people I knew he was the "one" when he was more concerned about me than his car... he's a car guy so I was terrified when it happened!

I hope you have a quick recovery and a more restful night tonight.  (Hugs!)

  • Very scary. Glad you are okay. We had a much more minor accident last summer, because a guy tried to pass me on the left. I jumped out of the car and screamed, "You better be damn glad my baby isn't hurt or your nuts would be on the street right now!"

Hope you feel better soon and you ds gets his boob back.

  • I missed your OP, but am so glad you're ok!!  That is very scary.

As far as the MS goes, do they need to do anything differently than they would for someone w/o MS?  I just ask because it was a car accident that triggered my sister's MS.  So, I was just wondering how traumatic injuries factored into the picture.

    Hope you feel better soon!
