how did they go? How long were they?
Did you take the reins or did the dr?
Anyone else only set up one- i am pretty sure i know who i want, and if we like him will just go with it, i see no need to search around if we like him combined with the other stuff that appeals to us?
Do you have a list of the questions you asked?
Anything important you can think of besides what is on baby websites lists of things to ask/look for?
thanks!
Re: talk to me about your Pediatrician interviews?
We just did our interview yesterday. We also only set up one interview because we had been so many people recommend him that we were sure he was going to be good. But, we wanted to meet him for ourselves.
The doctor had a pre-questionaire (sp?) that we filled out and when he came in I handed it to him. He took the reins and answered everything we had wrote down.
We talked about his views on circumscion, bf vs ff, appointment times. I printed off some questions that were on babycenter.com but I didnt use any of them. Most of them I had answered off of his website or were common sense.
We went to two, but only because we had already scheduled the 2nd and it was too late to cancel after the first (which we decided to use). I think if you're comfortable with one, there's no need to go anywhere else, unless you want to compare.
We asked about the regular stuff - office hours, same-day sick appts, how often we would see each dr, if there's a charge for calls, etc. One thing that was a big difference between the 1st and 2nd places we went was that the 2nd place does not have any doctor (or even nurse) on call after 10 pm. I asked what to do if baby is sick at 11 pm, and she said "IDK, call your insurance company, sometimes they have nurses on call after hours." Yikes! Also, one thing I really like about the one we chose is that they have 3 board-certified lactation consultants in the office and they pay extra special attention to breast-fed babies (special weigh-ins before and after feeding) so you know they're eating enough.
