We are stuck between two girls names and I would love to hear your opinion. Maggie or Molly???

IMO, Maggie is a nickname, not a formal name.

And I know too many dogs named Molly.

To me, Maggie is a nn (for Margaret, Margery, etc). As is, I prefer Molly over Maggie.

I prefer Molly unless you are going to use Maggie as a nn. Molly stands alone better

I love them both! Molly is on our name list because DH doesn't like Maggie as much. I do think that Molly will age better. I think Maggie can be used as a stand alone name and should be if that's what you like, but people will never assume that Molly is a nn, so it may be less confusing as well.

If you're planning to name her Margaret and call her Maggie, that's my first choice.

If the choice is between naming her just Maggie or naming her Molly, please, please, please go with Molly.

Molly feels like a complete name, whereas Maggie seems like a nickname. I think Molly would 'grow' better, while I feel like Maggie shouts little girl.

But if you really like it, then use it.

I love them both! Molly is so cute! Maggie is a good nn for Margaret, but not a first name imo. I'd go with Molly, but you can't go wrong with Maggie.
