people who have ikea cribs, i have a question.....

Are you able to buy a standard mattress from the store or can you use only Ikea mattresses? We were gonna go to the Ikea this weekend and get our crib, its an hour away tho so if we need to get a mattress I want to get it while we are there and not have to make another trip. If I can just use a standard crib mattress from anywhere else I would prefer not to purchase one there.

    you can use a standard mattress.  I did not like the Ikea crib mattresses at all- way too soft.

    I posted below a great mattress that is very inexpensive that i just got for my Ikea crib - it's super firm.

    Check the specs for the size mattress you need for the crib you are getting (i have the leksvik - it has the specs online for mattress size).... Not all crib mattresses are the same size- they can vary by about an inch or so- and that is bad if the mattress does not fit super snug in the crib (you don't want any gaps).
