I'm taking Ferrous Sulfate. It's a prescription, but the doc said that they might sell them over the counter too. Not sure. But make sure you take iron pills with alot of water and a full stomach. Iron can also make you extra constipated so use Colace with them if you have this problem. I know Colace is over the counter.
I went to walgreens and got the walgreens brand- ferrous sulfate. Thats what they recommended at the pharmacy.

I've been taking SlowFE (maybe w/o the w?) for about three months now, and I like it. It doesn't upset my stomach, and it hasn't constipated me as much as I was afraid of (mostly it changes the color of the stool and makes it a little harder), but probably b/c I had issues w/ constipation before the pregnancy and had learned to make sure I eat 20-25 grams of fiber a day.
And I think there's a Walgreens generic version, though I didn't buy it /c I wanted a 90-day supply.

My doctor told me to get SlowFe. It's been great - doesn't upset my stomach at all. My doctor also said to take it at the opposite time of day as I take my prenatals. I take the iron in the morning and prenatals at night.
