We didn't throw them a big 30th anniversary party. Dh just came home now feeling guilty because she's guilt-tripping the bejesus out of him. She always wants a big to-do for herself, apparently throwing a fit when she didn't get a 50th bday party. Dh was in college at the time. Now we have a little one & I just got squeezed out of my job... another story, so we're not in a great financial spot, especially to throw a party for her. One SIL lives in NY & doesn't get along with her, so she's for sure not wanting to do anything, and other SIL is worse off financially, a whole other story itself.
It makes me crazy that she makes DH feel bad. I come from the school of thought where anniversaries are for the couple, not for a big group of people. I guess I'm just getting crabby at the thought of having to visit with them 3 weekends in a row- I may go crazy!
Now I'm just trying to decide whether to try to offer DH that we get them flowers or a gift, or just not bring it up & hope he forgets, which he very may well.
Vent over!
