I won't be having anymore (last was at 20 weeks) unless they have some concerns. Sometimes they'll do a growth-u/s to estimate weight around birth if you're measuring off of the "norm" or go overdue. But even then, sometimes they don't do u/s and just do NSTs.
Nope, that's normal for me. We had an elective 3D/4D scan on our own at 31 weeks, but unless there is reason to worry about anything, I should not have anymore.
Me. I haven't had one since 17 weeks. He ordered another one for me yesterday, only because I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead (I kind of asked when he said how big I was measuring). Normally, he wouldn't do a 3rd tri u/s, which I thought was weird.
I'm having one to check my placenta, since it was low at my big u/s. My OB also does one at 36 weeks to check the size and position of the baby. Honestly though, I think if there are no concerns it's more common to NOT have another one. I like my OB
The only reason I got one at 37 weeks is because I had decreased fetal movement. Otherwise I wouldn't have. If it makes you feel any better, the U/S wasn't all that exciting b/c she's so smushed in there we could hardly see anything. She had her hand in front of her face too. So basically we saw a foot and a hand and a big head. LOL We did get to find out her weight though (7lbs) so that was cool.
Nope, very normal. Only reason I got one after 20 wks was MIL went with me to one appt and sweet-talked my pushover OB into wheeling in the portable machine to take a look.
i am having one next week because of measuring ahead and PIH - which contradict each other because measuring ahead means big baby, and blood pressure concerns are small baby- so we shall see
EDD with #4 01-20-14 Proud mama to a boys- 6/17/09 - a girl 2/23/11- and a boy 8/20/12
Mine hasn't. They said they only would if they though something was wrong with the baby. It kinda makes me mad. If I had an ultrasound machine at my house I'd be looking at it all the time lol.
my dr. does one at 20 wks and one at 36 wks unless anything comes up, that is all he recommends. the only hard part is waiting 4 months to make sure i can wash the laundry..haha i'm still paranoid i'll get "oops..did i say girl??"
Nope. In two more weeks they'll do a quick one, just to check the position of the baby. But nothing between 20 weeks (which was about 18 weeks for us) and 36.
Re: No ultrasounds since 20 weeks?
Most insurance policies only cover additional unless it is medically necessary.
Ive had extras because of measuring ahead and lack of movement.
On the handout from my dr., it says that no more ultrasounds will be ordered after 20 weeks if the pregnancy progresses "normally."
I had one at 20 weeks and then at 32 weeks because my ute measured big.
