It always reminds me of that song Copacobana... "her name was Lola... she was a showgirl..." But I probably wouldn't use it just b/c it doesn't sound serious in a profesional world. I think it is cute though.

Madonna's daughter goes by Lola, but her full name is Lourdes. If you are looking for a more "complete" name, you might consider that or something similar.
I think it is a cute name, but it very strongly reminds me of Nabokov's "Lolita" (which is quite possibly my favorite novel - but the connotations are a little too provocative for me to consider naming my own daughter that!)
It sounds like a stripper's name IMO. Strangely enough I like a lot of very similar sounding names though: Lily, Lucy, Lila, Leah, etc. I think it would be a cute name for a toddler but I can't picture a grownup with this name.
It makes me think of that song about the transvestite first, then the Nabokov novel about a prepubescent slut, and then it just sounds like a stripper. Sorry, it just is all negative for me.
I work with a grown up Lola, and it never seems weird. I do frequently think "....she was a showgirl" when I see her. But having a song with your name in it applies to so many names, I wouldn't rule it out because of that.

Really? That makes it pretty cool
If it didn't have 3 negative connotations to me, I'd be ok with it, but when I hear the name it makes me think of"
1. "Her name was Lola, she was a ..."
2. Nabokov's (and this is the one that puts it over the edge as a name I would use)
3. Lalya by Eric Clapton (I know it's not the same name, but it still reminds me of this song)
I LOVE it and would seriously consider it if we had another girl....
I really like it.

I love it! I have a friend named Lauren that goes by Lola.
Another friend named her daughter Lola Cornelia which I loved!
Love it!
I wanted Layla to be named Lola, but there were several celebrity baby Lolas born around the same time, so we compromised and went with Layla.
I don't like it. "Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl..." lol
I do like a lot of similar names though, like Leah, Lena, Lila, Lily, Lilian, Leila, Lorelei, Lauren.
ETA: I don't like it as a full name. As a nn, it's fine.
I hate to say it, but this is the first thing that came to my mind too.

Our dog's name, too!
I was going to say it reminds me of a dog. Specifically, in my case, our friends' dachshund with sever bladder-control issues.
It also gets Copacabana in my head, as others mentioned.
