Will we ever be able to unswaddle?! Anyone else?

I am getting a little worried that we will never be able to break dd of the swaddle. She sleeps swaddled for naps and bedtime, and always has. I'm afraid to try it now because her sleep has gone to crap the past 5 nights, and I don't want it to get worse. She has started to roll from her back to her tummy while swaddled, but I've gone in when she's done this, and her head is to the side, just like it would be if she wasn't swaddled, so I'm not worried about that.  (Whoa, run-on sentence.)

Anyway, I find myself with visions of swaddling until she's old enough to drive. I'm so scared to wean!!

Anyone else?

  • I am too but we are slowly but surely doing it one step at a time.  We have been one arm out for about a week now.  It sucks!
  • we were late weaners of swaddling.  DD is now out of it and has been for the past wk.  surprisingly, it went better than i thought it would.  we did one arm for quite awhile.  then we swaddled her under her arms around her rib cage - both arms out.  currently, she's w/o anything and we'll continue to see how that goes.  i'd suggest weaning on her naps first.  good luck!
  • Yup, same here!
  • I just did this this week!!!   So, we went cold turkey Monday.  I use the zip up blanket to keep her warm.  She has been fine.  The first night she woke up about an hour after I put her down 9pmish crying, I went in and held her and put her back down.  We woke her up at 8 the next AM. SHe had also been breaking out in the AM time so, I felt like it was time....I was just as terrified because she has been STTN since she was 4 weeks,  I did not want to ruin the dream!!  It is possible and I honestly think she is happier being able to stretch out.  She is 17lbs and 26.5 inches long!

    This gives me hope! :)

I am glad to know that I'm not the only one! Thanks, ladies! :)

  • We went cold turkey as well this week and we haven't had any problems.  I'm really surprised!  He had been breaking out of his swaddleme blankets so I guess he was ready.  We also are using a Halosleep sack for warmth.  GL!
