Austin Babies

is it wrong that I can't wait to have a coke?

I have told Jay that as soon as the boys are born, I want an ice cold can of coke ready and waiting.  :)  I haven't had soda with caffeine since way before we started IVF and I am really really hankering for one right about now.

Come on boys, mama wants a coke!

also:  AW:  I'm 38 weeks today!  Whoopeeee!!!  Big babies, yay!!

Re: is it wrong that I can't wait to have a coke?

  • You have given up coke for a looong time and you WAY deserve one!

And 38 weeks! Holy cow! Can you believe you made it this far? I will admit I was skeptical when you said your lady doctor was going out of town. I thought surely that was a sign you'd have them last week! Yet, here you are - still pregnant with two big 'ol babies! Congratulations!

  • Mmm. That sounds refreshing right about now.  I snuck caffeine anytime I couldn't feel the baby moving when I thought he should be.  Sure wired him up good!
  • Yay for big babies!

I don't think it's wrong that you can't wait to have a coke. Whenever DH makes himself a rum and coke, I always have a sip of the coke before he pours it because it tastes so good, but I haven't had a full coke in forever either. I can't wait to have a margarita!

And 38 weeks!!!  HOLY MOLY!  How long will your doc let you go?

  • I want to stop by Saltgrass on the way home from the hospital for a rare steak!  I have so been missing it so I totally get where you're coming from, and I'm not nearly as far as you!  I had a coke last night Embarrassed  My Dr said it was fine after the first tri, but I'm not going to have caffeine, just because I don't want to risk it, unless its a case like last night, where I'm having a horrible day and really really need it!  Man oh man did it make me feel better!
  • You are a stronger person than me! I had way too many during my pg.

Oh, and just so you know - they won't let you have one right after your c-section :( I was looking forward to an ice cold dr. pepper and all I got was clear liquids for 24 hrs!

  • Wow, I am also impressed! I am not a caffeinated soda drinker normally, but I have craved Dr. Pepper with both pregnancies. I didn't have any from my IVF prep cycle up until I was released to my OB with either pg, but I definitely have since then! I can't believe you are 38 weeks. Yay!

  • Wow!  All of you 86-caffiene ladies sure impress me - I couldn't do it!  I didn't do it everyday, but I had to have some half-caff coffee a few times a week or I would have gone insane!

Joyco - that Coke is so well deserved!  Go ahead and have it  now - it won't hurt anything - it may even make them want to book it on outta there!!  Surprise

  • Nope, nothing wrong w/ that!

But I second PP - you probably won't be allowed it after the c/s OR you won't want it b/c of the potentially gas-enducing carbonation.  Gas bubbles in your tummy HURT after a c/s!  I doesn't help that the nurses/Drs keep pushing on your belly every hour or so either.

My Dr let me eat/drink whatever I wanted - but looking back and remembering how much gas pains would hurt after that c/s, I'm glad I didn't indulge in carbonated drinks until a few weeks PP.

FWIW, a friend craved Dr Pepper so much during her last week of pregnancy that her parents were under strict orders to bring up a cooler of Dr. Pepper bottles on the day of her induction so that she could enjoy  them once the baby was born.  Well, her Dr was strict, she ended up having a c/s and she was like PP and could only have clear liquids for the first day.  She was not too happy about that.

I'd give your Dr a call so you won't be disappointed just in case!

  • Woman, send your DH out for a 12 pack of caffeine-free coke pronto!  I swear it tastes as good as the real thing, as does caffeine-free DrP.  It's all I drink after 5 pm.
