NT3R: Anyone ever use Priceline for flight?

The name your own price option.  I've never done it and was wondering how it works.  You don't get any of the info unless they accept your price, right?

  • Yes, that is how it works and that is one reason I am afraid to use it for flights. I am very flight picky and would hate to lose a day because of traveling at the wrong time, layovers etc.

Sometimes you can go to betterbidding.com and research some bid history to get an idea of what you ay get for what price. It works out great for me with hotels and car rental (both of those things I am more fexable with)

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • hey M!

I used it once to get a flight from DC to Boston and I'll never do it again! Rather than a short 1.5 hour flight, it took me 10 hours to get there with a layover in NYC. Ridiculous! I think I could have driven there in that time.

I've had better luck with hotels than flights. :-)

  • Thanks ladies - It looks like I won't be naming my own price, I'll try for rental car though.

  • I would definitely do it for a rental car or hotel. I have done it for both of those. I would never do a flight though.

    Good luck!

  • Agree with everyone else - flights are very risky - unless you are really willing to get strange times (like getting in at 1 a.m.) or really long layovers (like pp's said).

I love it for hotels, and car rentals.  I've also done carrentals.com and got a mega cheap deal for Hawaii last year.
