I have a sign (sleeping babies please don't knock unless necessary, no solicitors) that we put on the door while they're napping but I STILL get people knocking or ringing the doorbell. Unless they can't read I just don't get it. What else can I do to keep people from knocking? It's not the knocking necessarily that wakes the babies... but we have a crazy dog who barks like mad when someone is at the door and that wakes them every time.
The salvation army just rang the doorbell claiming that I called to have something picked up. When I said he had the wrong house he looked at his piece of paper and said, nope, this is the right address. Um. Ok. I think I would know if I called you to pick up a cabinet. And you just woke up both of my babies. Thanks. Now go away!! Grrrrrrrrr
Re: how to get people to stop knocking/ringing bell
I have a sign that I tape over my doorbell that says "SSSHHHHHHH Sleeping babies don't ring bell" Usually they will read that and then knock very quietly. My dog still barks her head off though, and usually wakes the babies, and I get really mad! If someone is coming over that I know, I will unlock the front door and tell them to just come in and be very quiet. My dog doesn't bark unless she hears a knock or ring.
