Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

How long does it take your DC's teeth to cut?

My DD seems to take forever to cut teeth.  At her 12 month appt, her pedi confirmed that her top teeth were coming in.  She is now 14 months and only one has popped through the gum.  I have been able to see 3 right under the gum for at least 2 months now.  She has had all the classic teething signs, as well....yes, for 2 months straight (actually longer because her two bottom teeth took just as long and we haven't had much of a break).

I have friends who tell me their child just woke up with new teeth and that is just not the case in this house.  At 14 months she only has 3 teeth (got her first around 10 months), so I know we have a long road ahead.  I'm curious though as to how long it takes your child to cut a tooth...from the time you can see it under the gum and feel it to the time it comes through.  Also, how long until the tooth actually completely emerges?

Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

Tired mom in teething hell.

  • About 6 weeks.  It's crazy.

  • Forever.  The teeth next to his top front teeth have been visible for at least 2 weeks now, but when I touch them, they are still covered in skin.  Lets just say our kids have extra healthy gums!

     More like "gums of steel!"

  • We're in the same boat. We took DS in when he had RSV in mid Feb and the pedi said he could see his top two teeth coming in. Fast forward to now. We've been able to see those two teeth all this time and neither of them has popped yet.

  • The tips of 2 molars have been out for 2 months now and slowly but surely little bit more comes through...2 months and I still don't have a whole tooth (well teeth since its 2 molars).  Its been painful:(
  • It takes DD teeth 2-3 months to pop through.  She is forever teething!  She hasn't had any new teeth pop through in over a month, has 8 teeth total (4 top, which came in at the same time and 4 bottom, which came in 2 at a time) and no molars in sight.
