2nd Trimester

Bump (and baby movement) are really low

I'm think I'm carrying very low, my bump is totally below my belly button. And all the baby movement I feel is way low, like right above my pubic bone. I know everyone carries differently, but this seems super low. And I'm surprised, because I'm really short waisted. I'm curious if this is just the typical progression of pregnancy (the growing from low to high), or is this just how some bodies carry for the entire pregnancy? For anyone else who experienced this, did the bump and baby movement eventually get "higher"?

Re: Bump (and baby movement) are really low

  • My bump was really low until some days ago... now, after the 21weeks mark, it's starting to make its way up but the baby still sits low. I mostly feel him close to my pubic bone and sometimes midway to my belly button. Only in the mornings when I'm still in bed he moves around the belly button. It rarely happens during the day.

It is not until 20-25 weeks that your uterus moves up above your belly button.  And from my experience with my 1st pregnancy and this one, you might not have not completely popped yet, though you might have a baby belly.  Popped happens around 21 weeks for most people and it is when you have a round belly that is "popped" up above your belly.  It is rounder and does not sort of go away when you lay dowm.  A lot of people think popped means when you look pregnant and have a belly, but it actually means that your belly has moved up and out!
  • Your uterus is below or just at your belly button around 20 weeks! ?My uterus is measuring 28 weeks and I still feel most of my movement down low.
  • My bump seems high, but I still feel movement low.  Just recently I have started feeling his movements a little higher (like around my belly button)...but that's only occasionally.  Usually its low, which I don't understand since I have a higher up bump???  Who knows.

  • My bump is front row center, but most of the movements I feel are low. At night I get punched up higher, but for the most part things are down low by my pubic bone. I think it's a matter of gravity and how big your baby is, and what position they are in.

  • Thanks everyone, I'm glad to hear it's normal!

  • She tends to sit, and therefore move, very low for me too. My OB says she hangs out on my bladder for the most part - which makes sense because I feel a constant need to pee! Anyway, yes - nearly all movement is very low, just above my lady business. Every now and then it'll be a bit higher, but not often.
