I think its false

So I am 6 days late, AF is like clock work, I have taken 2 tests, both negative. What is wrong here? We have been trying to prego for almost 2 years. UGH!

  • First....don't say prego. Second....are you charting? If not you may have o'd late and you might not actually be late.

No I do not chart, I know my body pretty well, I have been using OPT for about 5 months. I think it might be my husband, I have been to the doctor, and everything is fine. I just dont get it.

  • What is wrong with saying "PREGO"??
  • You clearly "don't get it."

Your husband wouldn't make AF late...

You probably ovulated late.  If you have been TTC you should probably start some sort of IF testing.

  • My head hurts.  I will try to be nice.

If you do not chart, you have no clue if you are "late" or not.  Wait a few days and test again.  If you still do not have AF or a + call your doctor.

Oh, if you have been trying for 2 years without getting pg, you may need ot see your OB.

It can take a healthy couple a year to conceive. ??

It's just not a popular term on this board. Better to just say pregnant. Good luck and I hope you get your + soon!

It is not a welcome word here.

Regardless of "knowing your body" it is possible you O'd later than usual. Give it some more time. If it has been 2 years, you might want to try charting and if you you have been checked out by your dr. then I would see about a SA.

  • I know I have looked into charting, its just that AF has never been late, never. But it doesnt hurt to give it a try, I will do a little more research. Thanks!
  • You've been trying for 2 years? It may be time to see a doctor who specializes in IF issues.

Yes, I think I will give it a try. Im sorry for using that term, I didnt know it was going to offend anyone. Sorry again.

    We have, a few times.

  • I'm not huge into charting, but I would definitely suggest charting for you.  A positive OPK does NOT mean that you ovulate...it means that you body is gearing up for ovulation, but that does NOT mean that you will actually ovulate...

  • What has the doctor suggested so far?  After two years, if he's done nothing, I'd be looking for another one!

That said, a couple of my friends have had doctors who wouldn't do any testing until after two years of trying....I thought it was ridiculous.

Yes, the first year, she recommended taking OPT, now she has suggested Clomid for me. My test results came back fine, my husbands came back fair, he does not have a high sperm count, and he refuses to take medication, but he wants a baby.

Yes, they did testing on him, and it came back that he has a low sperm count, but my OB stated that we should still be able to get prego, because its not that low.

This makes no sense.  Tests on you are fine, tests on him are iffy, and she wants to put YOU on medication?  I'd be looking for a second opinion for SURE.

As for your husband, you might to tell him that if he wants a baby, he should suck it up and take medication.  That bothers me - he's okay with one of you taking medication as long as it isn't him?  Kinda selfish, no?

Exactly, he thinks it should be done the "natural way" and if I want to be on Medication, then I can, but he refuses to be on medication.

No he doesnt "expect" me to, he says its up to me whether or not I want to be on meds or not. But because of his beliefs, pregancys should be natural without drugs. I dont know.

  • Sorry, but your husband makes no sense.  By you being on medication, it is no longer "the natural way"...doesn't matter WHICH one of you is taking it.

Are you SURE that he wants a kid, and isn't just making excuses to prevent it from happening?  That just seems like a red flag to me...

I dont know, he doesnt condone me taking meds, however the DR has recommended it, either for me or him.

  • If he'd continue TTC with you ON meds, then yes, he'd be condoning it.

Seriously, maybe you need to start talking about adoption, if he really does want children and is pretty much against medical intervention.

You can let him know, though, that in seven weeks, I will be at-home enjoying my "unnatural" baby while his wife continues to sit at home upset and heartbroken over not being pregnant...

    Yea, I suppose.

  • Seriously, i'd have a conversation with him about it.  About the following things:

    1.  Does he REALLY want a child now
    2. Why is it more "ok" for you to take medication than him?  It would be equally "unnatural"
    3. TTC naturally is not working, should you be looking into adoption?

Does your husband also refuse to take medication for other ailments?  Ever?  Because that might be something else to bring up with him.

On that note...I should go.  As much as I'd like to help, your husband's opinion obviously is personally offensive to me (see my ticker) so I should probably go before I get really snotty :P   Good luck...I still recommend a second opinions with a doc, though
