Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Minimum amount of formula

DS keeps solids down so much better than formula.

How many ounces are the minimum for a 9 month old?

(Yes, I am calling pedi. tomorrow)

Re: Minimum amount of formula

  • ?DD is a big baby....22 lbs at 9 months. Pediatrician said he would like to see her drinking about 20 oz./day.

  • Geez, my DD is Ginormous then!  She was 23 lbs 5 oz at 6 mos!  The pedi said at 6 mos she needed to be at about 32 oz. (she had JUST started solids at 6 mos)  I think at 9 mos it goes down to 24 oz.
  • Thanks for your answers.  Def. calling the doctor- he is only getting 18 ounces.  Eek!
  • I wouldn't stress it as long as he seems happy and healthy. If you're feeding him when he's hungry and stopping when he's full then you're doing a great job!

  • I wouldn't stress too much, there seem to be varying opinions about the minimum needed. ?At our 9 month appt my pedi said the minimum they should be getting is 16 ounces of breastmilk/formula/dairy products to get their calcium requirements. ?So if your DC is eating yogurt or cheese this would count towards those 16 oz. ?
