Please pray for our dog Socks. We found out he has Parvo yesterday (we think he got it at the dog park) and he is not improving. H and I are an absolute wreck.
ohmigoodness, i am almost in tears for you. my parents dog died from this when i was a little kid. i will keep him and you in my prayers & hopes he pulls through.
I hope he recovers quickly. I'm not certain on this, but I don't think you can get another dog now that he has had parvo...it might be if he she has it though. I don't remember.
I had two puppies (brothers) who both got parvo. One of them spent three days at the vets getting fluids through an IV before recovering. And the other spent a week on IV's and was released Christmas Eve! Try not to stress too much about it! It's like a child with chicken pox!
Not a fun time. I'm so sorry. My parents recently had a whole litter of puppies that contracted parvo. They just kept nursing them with watered down gatorade and pedialite as many times as they could. They actually were able to nurse two of them through it, so it is possible. They named them Rocky and Adrian Best of luck to Socks.
To those who asked, we had gotten them their shots, then fell behind with the boosters. I really hope he pulls through this. We can't afford to keep him in the hospital ($600+ per day) so we're treating him at home. He's got an iv every 12 hours, antibiotic drops twice a day and we're dropper feeding him pedialyte and tempting him with baby food. I've heard that once they get past the first 3 or 4 days, they have a better chance of survival. Today is day 5, and he doesn't seem to be getting any worse, so thats good I guess. I feel so horrible. Like this is our fault for not keeping better track of when their shots were due...
We have two other dogs; his mom and his brother. We are keeping them seperate (he's pretty much living in our room, they are staying upstairs), we aren't walking them together or in the same places, we moved the kennels to a different room in the house. I know there is no way to completely decontaminate the house, but we're hoping that keeping him as quarantined as possible will help a little.
My H went home at lunch today to give him his anti nausea meds, and to make sure he was still alive. So far he's still fighting. I am praying he keeps it up.
Re: My puppy has Parvo...
I'm sending out good thoughts for him - I hope he gets better!!!
I'm so sorry. Did he not have him Parvo shot yet?

So sorry you're going through this. I saw this A LOT when I was working at at an animal hospital. It sucks to have to tell people about this lesson.
Sounds like you are doing everything right at home. I've seen LOTS of puppies pull out of parvo with the right treatment.
GL to you.
Do you have any other pets in the house or just this one?

I don't know what else to do.
