Pregnant after a Loss

Poll: How did you tell your fam?

In person, on the phone, anything special? Go!

I am trying to get my dad and Bro to go out to eat so we can tell them. My bro is pretty easy, but my dad is impossible! He is sooo busy! I hate to tell him via phone but I am wondering if that is what it is going to come down to. Grrr

Re: Poll: How did you tell your fam?

  • My parents live out of state, so I told my Mom that " God willing everything goes according to plan, you have to come here for Thanksgiving"

  • we called the moms the day we found out (5weeks, 2 days) even though mine lives only about 15 minutes away - DH's mom lives is GA...he couldn't wait even a moment to tell them we were pregnant again...
  • last time I was going to be seeing my mom and sister in like a week so I didn't tell them, and then of course I had to tell them that I'd had an early m/c. so this time I wanted to tell them right away at least so I could share good news - even if the outcome wasn't good I'd tell them that and would need them anyway. my family all lives out of state, so I called my mom and told her "I guess I won't be coming home for Christmas this year". I'm flying to see my sister Thursday for her baby shower actually, so I am waiting to tell her when I see her. I think I'm going to wrap up the FRER and give it to her and say I have an early shower gift I want her to open now. it will be fun to watch her face as she realizes what it means - I told her AF showed up (and have been paranoid about lying about that ever since!!!). my brothers I will tell on the phone since they are also far away. another reason I wanted to tell my sister in person - at least I can see one member of my family's face when I tell them Big Smile DH told his parents on the phone too, even though we were going to see them that day. silly DH
  • I wanted to send them happy grandparents day cards -- but DH nixed that idea.  We just called and told them on the phone.  I can't believe you have not slipped yet!!! We told them the day we found out.

  • I'm a bad example, because I called my mom in tears when I was spotting at 7 weeks.  We live 3,000 miles from both of our families, so once we learned that everything was okay at my 12 weeks appt DH's family and my siblings got the news via a phone call along the lines of: "Guess what, I'm pg!"
