DS sleeps on his side and he really never liked to be swaddled. ?Therefore, we cover him with a blanket each night. ?I feel like I am the only one on this board who doesn't use a sleep sack thingy. ?
I don't like the sleep sacks anymore b/c how do they move around? I feel like he'll feel trapped or something. He's a belly sleeper--so maybe that's why. But I put a blankie on him---and have never had an issue. He also didn't like to be swaddled.
I should have clarified what I said in your OP. She HAS a blanket in her crib, she just kicks out from under it about 10 minutes after I leave the room!
As for a sleepsack, DD never liked it, and we only swaddled her until she was 12 weeks old.
DD is a side sleeper, sometimes back. We still loosely swaddle her lower body. She just sleeps better that way and she's not a wild sleeper so it doesn't come off.
Blankets are a suffocation hazard... why would I put one in my crib? I don't want my child to suffocate.
Obviously anyone who uses a blanket wants their child to suffocate!
Yeah... they're a suffocation hazard for tiny babies who do not yet have the wherewithall to move their faces away from the blanket, and cannot roll or move much. They're fine for older babies.
Is my ds the only one who moves around all over his crib? He could never have a blanket, it would be pointless because he moves everywhere! He still uses a sleep sack and he can move fine, he can even stand in it.

We use a blanket. Just as your DS mine didn't like the swaddle and like to sleep on his side. DS gets hot quickly so we use a light blanket and take it off it he seems hot.
We do not use anything. I have a space heater in her room to keep the temp at 70. I also dress her in warm PJs. She is very comfortable.
I don't like sleep sacks since she wants to stand up in the crib and I am afraid it will make her trip.
I don't understand the point of a blanket since everyone has basically said they kick it off. DD hates blankets just in her stroller when we go for walks.
We have used a blanket since DD was a newborn... you're not alone. When she was tiny we tucked it under the sides of her crib and now that she's older she has the ability to pull it off of her face (although she really likes to hold it by her face).
We swaddled DS for maybe the first month or so, tops. He was born in the spring so by the summer when he would sleep somewhere other than on us the blanket thing wasn't an issue.
DS has always slept on his side, occasionally flipping to his back or tummy. We've used a blanket since he was maybe 6-7 months. And I have a unique little guy as he very rarely moves around in the crib as the blanket doesn't seem to move very much.
We tucked a blanket under him when he was little. He hated the swaddle. We can't use one now because he is all over that crib. It wouldn't stay on for 15 minutes.

No. They aren't fine for older babies. All of the research I've done indicates that it is safer to hold off on blankets until they are not in a crib at all. We are pretty big on safety in our house, and that's why we won't use one until our kids are in toddler beds. The temperature in our house is regulated to account for the weather and clothing, so I have no need for a blanket.

Well, we are not big on safety around here at all. I don't even have those big cushy corner covers on all of my windowsills. If he falls and pops and eyeball out, oh well! He'll learn his lesson before he does it to the other one. I like to throw and many blankets in there as possible and see if he survives the night. It's just survival of the fittest around here.
I use a blanket as well and have since she learned to roll both ways. She stopped wanting to be swaddled very early! I have never used a sleep sack... nothing against them, we've just never bought one before.
We've always used a blanket. DD sleeps in a sleepsack and has two light blankets over the top of her. We only put them on her from just below the armpits down, however. She really only moves her arms at night so the blankets don't get anywhere near her face ever.

We have not used a sleep sack or Swaddle since 3 months.
I put a blanket on DD, but it usually ends up tossed aside.
We put a blanket on DD and have from the start! You are not alone!
Ya, when he wakes up I always find him on his back with the blanket kicked off. ??

i just started giving S and afghan at night & for naps, and he actually sleeps better.
he was just sleeping in footie pjs or a onesie w/ footie pjs depending on the temperature.
Seriously....It's not like we're putting blankets in with our 2 month olds.
I have never swaddled or used a sleepsack...
We have used a blanket from day 1!!
So no you are not alone

I've used a blankie with both of my LO's.
Yes, that is my evil plan. ? Seriously...

You should rename your post, "am I the only one that wants my child to suffocate??"
She's obnoxious.

Yeah, I agree. Trying to prevent something bad from happening to my child is obnoxious. Safety is just annoying.
Did you even read my post? ?My kid sleeps on his side. ?When he wakes up, he rolls onto his back, therefore, the blanket gets kicked off. ?
I am concerned with safety, as well, but I also use common sense from time to time.

No, it's your delivery that's obnoxious. Maybe think about how things come across to people.
