Ok, so another TMI question. But I have the nastiest hemroids and I really have to go to the bathroom but I feel like Im pooping razor blades!!

Ive tried soaking in the tub but I like a really hot bath and apparently thats a no-no.  and tried a few over the counter things.   Anything you guys have tried that works??

  • Prep H is what I used, wipes and cream. I had to be religious about it and I didn't see results right away but after a while they went away.

  • My friend had them at the end of her pregnancy and her OB gave her a prescription of some special kind of cream that helped. Also maybe try taking a stool softener? I would definitely call the oncall doctor for that one though...they must have some suggestions.

GL, I hope you feel better soon.

  • Mine weren't as bad as what you are describing but, I took warm baths.  Also, make sure you are drinking a shiit load of water and getting your fruits and veggies in!

  • I also have hemorrhoids (had them before I got pregnant and now prone to them).  Here is what my doctor recommended:

She first offered to recommend me to another doctor who can inject the hemorrhoids to shrink them.  This does not harm the baby.  It will make you more comfortable throughout your pregnancy.  They can come back, but this will definitely make a big difference for you right off the bat.

    Other suggestions she gave me:

    For Hemorrhoids: Anusol, Preparation H

For Contipation: Milk of Magnesia, Dulcolax, Fleets Enema, MiraLAX

To Prevent Constipation: Metamucil, Citrucel, Hydrocil, Fibercon, Colace, Surfak

I hope something helps.  I'm in the same boat and trying things slowing.  I have had to use Dulcolax once and my doctor recommended taking MiraLAX daily.  I have been for the past week, but not noticing a huge change.  I definitely think being constipated is making my hemorrhoids worse.
