I think I read somewhere that food takes 7 seconds to reach your stomach. So I don't know how long after that it takes to get into the bloodstream. i wouldn't think to long.
I know it takes roughly 4 hours for your meal to be completely digested by your stomach and absorbed by your intestines. After it is absorbed into your blood stream, the baby gets the nutrients... so at most about 4 hours afterwards.
I have read though that sugar enters your bloodstream quite rapidly which is why having a glass of orange juice or sweets can instantly cause a reaction! Why else would they advice that you drink/eat something and lay down to do kick counts if you notice the baby is being a bit lazy?
