I feel like I'm always trying to think of what to feed A. We try to feed him what we eat for dinner/lunch and he'll take a few bites but never much more than that. So I always end up going with my staples: a mix of oatmeal, yogurt and flaxseed for b'fast, some kind of fruit and veggie puree (he won't eat chunky) for lunch w/ whole wheat bread and cheese or peanut butter, and something similar for dinner. He eats a variety of fruit and other snacks throughout the day and drinks cows milk. But I feel like I really need to get him to eat "adult" food.
What are you guys feeding your little ones? And how are you dealing w/ picky eaters if you have one??
Re: What are you feeding your toddler?
At that age I think we did avocado for sure for lunch a few times a week.
Can you make some veggie cream soups ? that would have some good stuff in it and be creamy for him !!
Hmmm........ how bout all the different squashes in chunks for him to eat ?
I think pasta with butter and cheese was huge in our house....
hummus with crackers. We get the organic trader joes whole wheat and flax. you can break them in half and they desolve pretty . Or hummus with some pita.
black beans and corn
peas.
agreed on Avocado
G liked chicken (either cut super tiny or I would prechew it for him) with lots of garlic and pepper.
canteloup!

Ditto on the pasta with butter and cheese. Get shapes that are easy to pick up- wagon wheels were Alex's fave. Now he loves the ABC shapes from Traders, and those are organic and tri-color, too.
Lots of other good suggestions from the other girls- avocado for sure. Banana?
Lately, Logan's been picky about his food too. I know that he loves soup, so I've been putting veggies in his soup. He used to love veggies plain, but now they need to be in soup or doused in sauce for him to eat it. He also doesn't eat much protein at all. I'm still struggling with this one.
It's tough trying to be creative while keeping the meals healthy. I think some of the ladies here have read a book about sneaking in the healthy food groups so that kids will eat them, but I can't remember the title of the book.
E isn't a toddler but she's only a couple months behind A. I've recently discovered that she'll eat much better if she feeds herself finger foods. So last night I gave her peas, cannelini beans cut in half and, whole wheat rotini cut in bits. Then today for lunch she's getting the leftovers.
I've also discovered that if she is resisting eating what I'm trying to spoon feed her, if I put food on her tray to distract her, she'll open her mouth for the spoon.
