Success after IF

When did you start TTC for #2

DD is 5 months old...I am going to be 30 this year..and given how much my reproductive health has gone down the tubes the last 2 years, I am concerned about waiting another 3-4 for #2. Am I absolutely CRAZY for thinking of starting TTC for #2 this year? We have two snowbabies, and I figure we'll start there, and see what happens, and then go from there. I am just on the fence with this. DD is a really easy baby, but it's still hard work. I'd love to have another one,  but I am so scared, nervous etc...the usual normal stuff. I feel like if we want #2 the sooner the better, b/c what if it takes us another 2 years to get pg with #2. If you have doing IVF/IUI any fert treatment how soon after DC #1 did you start trying for #2. TIA!

Re: When did you start TTC for #2

  • DS was 2 when we started TTC #2 - but he was conceived easily and quickly. I had unexplained secondary IF.

  • DH and I knew we wanted two and we wanted them close together (if possible) so after DS was born and I didnt get AF I went right back to the RE. I went back to the RE when DS was about 4.5 months old, got all the tests done and started treatments when he was 6 months old. We got lucky and got pregnant on our second round of IUIs. Good luck to you!
  • We were going to wait until this summer but then decided to start in January of this year as we didn't want to wait too long since I'm 35 and wasn't sure how long it would take my body this time.  Luckily, my first IUI worked again with #2.  Lots of luck to you!
  • First child was 8 months when we had IVF for #2.  God help us.
  • DH is in law school and an L1 we were going to wait until his 3rd year. DS would be 2ish. I am currently 12DPO with no period in sight after very well timed sex (not intentional believe me). If it happens than we will consider ourselves blessed to have conceived naturally, DS was a clomid/iui baby. If not than we will attempt to be very careful in the near future and go on as planned.
  • We started trying on our own when DS was 6 months old, and went to see our RE when he was 10 months old. Now he's going to turn 1 on Monday and I got a BFP this weekend. We didn't want to have too big of an age gap between our kids, and I wanted to be finished having kids sooner rather than later (I'm 33).
  • We started trying on our own when I got my first ppaf when Rhett was exactly 5 months old. We went back to the RE when he was 7 months old, but I had a uterine polyp. So I had surgery first and we did our FET when he was 9 months old. We had three snowbabies, knew we wanted two kids, and knew we wanted them close together. We are going to have three and they will definitely be close together!

  • We started again when my daughter was 5 months old... but by that I just mean having unprotected sex and trying to pay attention to the time in my cycle and CM.... that was it.  Turned out my cycles were still all messed up and I wasn't getting a period on my own so we just went for the FET and I'm currently patiently waiting for my beta.

    You're not crazy.

  • we wanted them to be about 2 years apart - so we started to see the RE again when DS was 16mos old.  I was 35 then (now 36).

    good luck!!!!
