Did the boys go through the dreaded 4 month wakeful period? If so, how long did it last?

Also, did you do first foods at 4 or 6 months? We can't decide and I need a real moms thoughts.

Thanks for answering! :-)

Re: **2brides**

  • 4m wakeful as in not sleeping through the night?  Neither of our kids slept though the night till well after a year old. One one still wake every single night to come to our bed. So - I can't help there other to say that 4m sleep regression is very common since it is a growth spurt time (which interferes with sleep.)  Also, if she is fussier than normal, it also might be teething. I know it seems really early - but soreness and hence crankiness can rear its ugly head months before the first tooth erupts.  I hope it gets better. Sleeplessness SUCKS.

As for feeding, we split the difference and did 5m.  We started with oatmeal rather than rice and then made all of our own baby food once we got past the cereal.  It really wasn't that time consuming and it was so much cheaper - not to mention healthier.  If you are considering doing it, look at wholesomebabyfood.com.  It is a great resource.

Hope things are going well in your house!! Smile

  • I'm sorry the boys don't let you get much sleep. I bet that is hard to handle :-(

I think she is teething with a  touch of sleep regression too. She is only up twice a night, up from once, so it's not too bad, so far. Her gums don't look so bad but she gnaws on everything right now. She freaks out at the cold teething rings or washcloths so I broke down today and used the Hylands tablets. I think they took the edge off.

We discussed doing 5 months too, glad to see we are in good company! 4 seems too early, especially given her history.

We are trying to get her to drink more and go longer between feedings. She will only do 4oz but then is hungry 1.5 hours longer. It is so frustrating. I managed a 6 oz feeding today for the first time so I am thinking food can wait a little longer.

I was checking out that website today, great info, so helpful. I plan to make her food too.

Thak you so much for your advice! :-)
