1st Trimester

lets talk about our 1st tri bellies

So, I am about 10.5 weeks along now.  Right before I found out I was pg, I was about to start my fitness routine to loose the extra lbs I had been gaining for the past few months (point being I was not necessarily a flat-bellied skinny minnie to begin with).  At my apt. last week, i had actually lost 6 lbs (not on purpose--just the usual 1st tri. naseous tummy keeping me from eating a lot.  This week--I just feel like my stomach is so big--I know I can't really be "showing" yet--and it's squishy, so it doesn't really seem like bloat...

Anyway.. all I'm looking for is for someone to say, "don't worry Arob, I feel the same way... this whole not looking pregnant but just like a fatty is no fun!"

Any one in the same boat?

  • yes, you're pregnant - dont be self conscious about your body. people began to show at different times & gain different amounts of weight. the important thing is to listen to your body & try to eat healthy. i feel like a fat slob everyday and dont wear anything except loose sweatshirts & i havent gained any weight either.

  • I'm thinking about getting myself a name tag that says "Captain Muffin Top" since most of my pants make me feel that way. I have gained 2-3 pounds at 8 weeks and that is mainly because I eat and I sleep. I slept 3 1/2 hours yesterday and that was my 2nd nap.

  • *raises hand* I'm with you.  Luckily I can feel the "real bump" creeping up... but as I was a 13 lb baby, it scares me to feel it so soon.  This can only mean my own baby will be as much of a vag-tearing beast as I was.

But at 10 weeks, I definitely remember feeling god-awful fat.  Actually at 4 weeks I felt it too-- trying to get dressed for a job interview, and nothing fit.  I called DF in a panic screaming, "I BETTER be pregnant... otherwise there is NO excuse to be this fat!!"  2 days later... BFP

  • Mine is still sort of flabby from DS, so I doubt I will be able to tell anything for a long while yet.

  • Sometimes I won't feel bloated, but I still have bloat.  Don't worry about it.  I had just joined a gym 2 weeks before my BFP and haven't been since, but I am planning on going Wednesday!

RIght now we are in a stage where we just feel big and not pregnant.  Give it about 6 more weeks and we will have a little bump!

  • I feel you too! I have actually lost 2 pounds from all the throwing up I guess but my stomache looks so puffy and I have love handles!  Ugh!  I guess it is just my body shifting things around---I will be so happy when it is a real bump!
  • Oh girl I'm right there with you. Im almost 10 weeks and I haven't been able to button my pants in weeks. The doc said I only have gained 3 lbs. I finally went and bought a small pair of maternity jeans at motherhood maternity and they are soooo comfortable and I feel so much better! I do have a bump but its not baby, it just major bloat and gas and my uterus growing. Still, I don't like the fact that I'm putting major pressure on my baby by trying to squeeze into pants that don't fit and it makes my stomach hurt. No one knows Im already wearing maternity clothes cause they're cute and the belly part doesn't show. The lady at the store actually guessed I was 14 weeks along because I had just eaten and was really boated that day. I didn't correct her because I don't think it's any of her business how far along I am. Im pregnant and Im uncomfortable.....so I can buy whatever clothes I want. As long as your comfortable thats all that matters.?
  • I am so ready to enter the bump phase and not the "I've had too many donughts" look phase. ?My husbands sleep pants have been my savior while at home!
  • My bloating seems to get progressively worse and worse. I feel fat and generally ugly. Soon enough we'll get over this phase and have real baby bumps :)
  • Yep. I am so glad to hear I am not alone.  I did invest in the Beband today at Target & made me soo much more comfy but look soo much more pregnant!
  • I feel just like you do! I wear scrubs daily and they are getting snugger and snugger and I just feel fat instead of pregnant! (Prob because I have this license to eat now!) and I am so bloated! People will be like "are you showing" and I just say, Nope, thats just lunch!
  • I'm with you all! I'm going to Antigua next week with DH and can't help thinking that I won't look pregnant in my bikini...just fat :(

  • I'm not as far along as you are, but I know how you feel.  I'm a pretty small person to begin with, only 5 feet "tall" and just over 100lbs so the slightest change in weight it very evident in me.  This bloat has totally transformed my body.  I have actually lost 3 pounds, but I can't button my work pants and my jeans look like I will burst out of them!  I know I am only 5 weeks but I am seriously thinking about getting the Beband from Target.

  • I don't think mine is bloat anymore, nor do I have a bump yet.  I haven't had any vomiting, and I'm always hungry, so I think it's just weight gain.  I've only gained 5 lbs, but I'm pretty small-framed, so it feels like a lot.  I'm still in that "I feel fat, not pregnant" stage.
