Are professional belly pics a regional thing?

It seems like a lot of people are getting professional belly pics done.  I have never heard of them before.  IThey are beautiful but guess I just dont understand what I'd do with them?  North East/New England girls-  Have you heard of this before or are you getting them done?

    I'm in NJ -- and I just had mine done on Sunday....I am going to hang a few on our family wall....i think it's a great way to capture the time....if they are done tastefully.

    Well, I think this is just a new thing. I dont think region has ANYTHING to do with any of this.  Everything is just becoming more commercial (not a bad thing when it comes to belly pics).

    I haven't ever known anyone who has had professional belly pics before, but that isn't going to stop me.  =)

    Yes, this is probably more true than it being a regional thing.

    I'm in NJ and I don't think it is a regional thing either.  I think they are very nice if that's what you'd like to do.  Definitely not for me though.

    i never had any intention of getting these done, but dh scheduled appointment at kiddie kandids the studio at bru. i got a free 8x10, no sitting fee. total cost me $25. only cause i bought the pic of us holding blocks with his name to put over crib. the free 8x10 was of me and dh. i put that in his baby book to show him his parents together and to commemorate pregnancy, otherwise i wouldnt have done this, i'd rather spend money on babys photos!!!

    I agree. I'm in NY and I've seen them. I'm torn on getting them because it might be nice to think I looked nice during pregnancy because there are hardly any photos of me except for weekly belly pics. But, I think Iook bad most of the time, so they're just not worth it to me right now. ?
