1st Trimester

Fun things I remember about the first pregnancy ...

- feeling super self conscious (but cute) with my tiny bump at 16ish weeks.

- realizing that I could no longer see my toes.

- trying to "lift" my belly to relieve pressure from my hips.

- eating one of the short cans of cheesy Pringles every single day.

- being scared to death that I'd shiit on the table.  (I didn't!)

- realizing that my boobs were leaking.

- deciding that I would set fire to our mattress because I hated it so much.  (Didn't do this, but I wanted to.  I pulled it off the bed and threw it outside.  Got a new mattress that day.)

- how fun the movement was.  Until he started throwing down the People's Elbow ... in my bladder.

- "snissing".  'Nuff said.

- being so large that maternity clothes wouldn't fit me.  I had to live in FIL's fleece and my husband's pajama pants for the last month or so of my pregnancy.  (And I wasn't a big girl to begin with.  Gained 56 pounds, was 56" around at time of delivery, according to the triage nurses.)

- heartbeats.  Ahhh.

Second/third/fourth time Mommas - feel free to add to this.

  • Jenny McCarthy mentioned herself being scared to death about shiitting on the table in her book.  That got me kind of worried too.
  • Meh.  If it happens, you won't even know.
  • oh, snissing. I am so not looking forward to that.

    - trying to shave my area with a mirror. Hand eye coordination was WAY off. It looked like a drunk person driving a lawn mower went through my town.

    -waddle waddle waddle

-delivering the placenta and having them JAM my stomach after birth hurt more then the actually birthing of DS part.

-baby hiccups. oh so cute but annoying.

-ultrasounds and hearing the heartbeat can never get old.

    -lightening crotch. ouch.

  • OMG lightning crotch.  How on earth did I forget that?

Oh, I got lucky - never had hemmies!  (Watch me have them the entire time this time.)

    Fecking Roids.Gah! They were awful.

    Round Ligament pain. Another GAH!

  • This is more of a personal gripe, but I had (and assume I will have again) the hardest time finding nursing bras that fit.  I'm a 30C but usually wear a 32B (b/c it's not like you can ever find 30s)  and it is almost impossible to finding nursing bras even in 32s, particularly in a size smaller than a D.  It's like the Bra Manufacturers of America think that a) every woman's rib cage expands substantially after child birth and b) they all jump up at least 2 cup sizes if not more!  Being petite and pregnant is tough when it comes to clothes/undergarments (just as I assume being plus sized probably is too).
  • I am worried about the opposite in regards to bras. I am a 38 DD right now. By time I have the baby, I am sure I will need to have some special made 58 ZZZZ bra made for me.
  • - Little feet/elbows in my ribs- I had bruised ribs for months afterward!

    - Figuring out nursing for the first time

    - Creating a registry- I'm kinda sad I don't get to get all new baby stuff this time around (but certainly am not going to pay for all new stuff myself!!!)

  • Oh yes, the first nursing experience.  That was WONDERFUL on my end.

I'm having boob issues already.  Lactating, none of my bras fit.  I'm just going to wrap them in duct tape for the next 7-8 months.

  • - Having to pee soooo bad that I thought I would explode and then like 2 drips (literally) would come out

    - Waking in the middle of the night to a leg cramp (in the back of my calf)

    - Trying to shave my legs

    - Watching the baby do sommersaults, from the outside!!

  • I had a good/fairly easy pregnancy but here are some things I got:

Really bad heartburn-even if I drank water :)

Pregnancy Gingivitis-yes its exists. My gums got soo swollen. It was gross

Not liking or wanting to see any form of chicken

Having my hubby do all the laundry and vacuuming!

  • Random nosebleeds while shopping at Target.

Acrobatically getting in and out of bed with a huge belly.

My lopsided belly for the whole last month...everything jutted out on my right side (turns out it was due to awful positioning and DS had toricollis thanks to this).

Using my belly as a shelf for beverages in the awful June heat before I went into labor.

Insane amounts of energy the last month or so...I literally walked about a mile a day and cleaned my house top to bottom daily (I left work a month early).

Trying to fit my swollen butt into a tiny seat at Fenway Park at 37 weeks.

Only wanting to eat pineapple and strawberries
