RevJG & MrsKC

I didn't want to bogart the other thread but a few questions.  Do your girls have teeth yet?  I want to give A cheese and cut up fruit but she has zero teeth and I'm wondering if they would be too hard for her to chew up....

Re: RevJG & MrsKC

  • She doesn't even have the slightest hint of a tooth...nothing. I give her shredded cheese, toast, puffs, mum-mums, bananas...so far pretty much anything we give her. She just gums all of it. She makes chewing motions (when I started giving her finger foods I would chew and she'd imitate me) but who knows if there is actually food in between her gums...I think the stuff mostly dissolves and of course I make everything small enough so she wouldn't choke. Then again, she has a tendency to grab a ton of pieces at once so I have to try and control that, too. Finger foods are way messy.

More than anything she really enjoys feeding herself. I have to wait until after I give her the spoon fed foods, though because she won't eat the spoon fed foods if the finger foods are there. She's totally obsessed.

  • She has her two bottom teeth, but never uses those to chew.  She just gums everything.  She hasn't perfected the pincher grasp just yet, she prefers to grab food by the fistful and shove in her mouth.  I would say 50% goes on the floor, 25% goes in the crevices of the high chair, and 25% makes it into her mouth :)
