Registering was confusing and sort of stressful, question

Hi Ladies,

So DH and I went to Babies R' Us this weekend to register and it was very confusing.  Basically, there are about a gazillion types of strollers, carseats, etc.  How do you find information about which ones you should get?  Consumer reports, other websites?  Any information would be very helpful.  TIA.

  • DH and I brought a friend with us who had a baby last year. Her advice was great, because it was coming from a mom!
  • I use Baby Bargains too. I'd be completely lost without it. Their new edition comes out in April but if you order it from Amazon, they'll ship it now. I got mine the other day and have been using it to pick out and adjust things on my registry.

  • Yeah, registering without doing research would be confusing.  I suggest checking out Baby Bargains -- it's been a very valuable resource for us so far.

This!  I was so glazed over when I just browsed at BRU that I went and bought the BB book right away (WAIT until the new edition comes out in a few days!!) and checked reviews on the BRU site. It helped me tremendously.

  • I agree...I was stressed and confused after we registered!  Someone also recommended the baby bargains book to me.  I got it and read it cover to cover in a weekend, and ended up changing most items on my registry!  The newest version comes out this weekend so get that, it really is helpful!   Good luck

A lot of ladies use the book Baby Bargains.

I did a lot of online research - reading reviews from other moms and based my choices on that and my own experience as a nanny (although that was a few years ago)

ditto; baby bargains just came out with an 8th edition

  • We just went around registering and then checked the reviews online.  I had to change out a couple of items but for the most part, everything was great.

  • talking to friends helped me a lot, and doing some online research and deciding what would work for me and dh. baby bargains and that is great, but for me, it didn't seem realistic or necessary to check reviews on every single item we planned on purchasing.
  •  I agree with the other ladies. Besides the research, registering for a little at a time (maybe you can do some online) helped me a lot, too. It's SO overwhelming. GL!
