XP: I don't know if my water just broke. Any suggestions???

I posted on SAL as well, but thought you ladies might be able to help since you have all been through this...

I don't know if my water just broke or if I just peed on my bathroom floor! I'm laying down right now and will get back up to see if there is any leaking. But, I'm not really sure what to do right now. Does anyone know how to tell if it is actually my water that broke? I'm not sure if I should just go into L&D or call my ob??

    Lay down for 5 minutes and then standup. Some more should leak out if it was your water.?If you still can't tell, head to L&D.

    Also, if it was your water, it'll smell a little sweet. Almost like old bubblegum.?

    When mine broke I was sleeping, so I can't tell you about the initial blow.  I can tell you that it just kept coming and coming after that.

    call your OB ASAP. even if you are just peeing yourself, there is no room for guessing with this sort of thing. better to go  in and get checked and have it be nothing than to not go, have it be your water and end up with an infection.

    There was no question when it happened with me. It just kept gushing.

    I agree, mine just kept coming and coming.  Also, I had very obvious contractions that began within the hour of my water breaking.  And with each contraction, a gush.  It was magical...
